Lasix (furosemide) can be prescribed for patients diagnosed with liver disease, kidney disorder or congestive heart failure. It prevents fluid retention allowing the extra salt to pass into the urine. Another way it can be used is to treat high blood pressure. Lasix can cause dehydration making you urinate more often that usual. As high blood pressure often displays no symptoms you need to take Lasix even if you feel better (in case of using it for high blood pressure). There is not enough information on whether this medicine can cause harm to an unborn baby, but its active ingredient passes into breast milk and can cause dangerous health effects in nursing infants. Do not take this drug in larger amounts that prescribed by your health care provider as an overdose can occur.
